Interstate 35
About
I-35 is about 1,569 miles long. This makes it the 9th longest interstate overall, and the 3rd longest north-south interstate.
I-35's southern end is in Laredo, Texas, which is on the United States' southern border. Its northern end is in Duluth, Minnesota. It spans nearly the entire nation from north to south, except it stops a little over 100 miles short of the Canadian border.

History
According to Wikipedia, parts of I-35 existed before the interstate system was contrived. Portions of the road began to open in 1959, and the majority of it was completed by 1975. The last remaining piece was finished in 1992, near Duluth, Minnesota, when the Leif Erickson tunnel was completed.
